Elephants in Bloom Pattern Design

Elephants in Bloom is a self-initiated illustration and surface pattern design project where I explored Indian fauna and flora through a modern, clean design lens.
I wanted to create a pattern that feels calm and elegant while still being playful and illustration led. By combining gentle elephant characters with stylized florals and leafy forms, I focused on building a balanced composition that works across both traditional and contemporary applications.
The pattern is designed as a seamless repeat, keeping commercial versatility in mind for use across textiles, packaging, stationery, and interior products.

Color Exploration:
I selected four main colorways for this collection, each created with a specific application and mood in mind.
The primary green and teal tones were chosen to highlight the jungle-inspired theme and work well for wallpapers, home decor, and lifestyle products. The secondary color variations were developed to give the pattern flexibility for different brand identities, seasonal collections, and packaging needs.
Each colorway was tested across mockups to ensure consistency and visual clarity across applications.

I began the project by sketching elephant forms and floral elements that could work together within a repeat pattern system. My focus was on keeping the illustrations soft and approachable, with clean shapes and subtle detailing.

This project reflects my approach to illustration and surface pattern design, creating artwork that balances storytelling, structure, and commercial usability. Elephants in Bloom is a representation of how I design patterns that are warm, modern, and ready to be adapted for brand collaborations.
